Over the years the building has served as a store and later a Mexican food restaurant. In 1985 the building was purchased by a gentleman and turned into a Blues club and given to his wife as a birthday present. Her name was Charlene, and the name "Char's Has the Blues" was born. It's current owners 'Bush' and Peter have maintained the clubs high standards for music and taken it a step further. Char's Has the Blues has been named "Best Blues Bar in Town" by the Phoenix New Times seven years in a row, and have secured many other prestigious awards.You can always expect the finest in Blues entertainment seven nights a wee.
